Auto accidents, Car accidents, Truck accidents, Motorcycle accidents are all happening around us. We try to drive our vehicles as carefully as possible but it is always the other drivers' that we have to worry about - right?
How else can we cope with the potential of an accident. Being aware of everything around you when you drive and not be distracted by cell phones, dvd players, gps systems etc. Of, course its easy for me to say all of this, but you know that what I'm writing is true.
Get rid of the distraction and the concentratoin is more on driving, and then being able to deal more speedily with the other driver's bad driving.
Geneva camp is a slum in the centre of Dhaka. More than 25,000 people live here in cramped and squalid conditions. Plan has been working with the children in Geneva camp since 2004 to help provide education, health & sanitation programmes and empower community members.

In 2004, Plan introduced Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) in over 200 villages in the Dinajpur District of Bangladesh. CLTS is a radical approach to ending open defecation. By 2007, all villages in Plan's target area had eliminated open defecation and the entire population now has access to hygienic latrines.

In April 2008, heavy rainfall in Tanzania's Morogoro region led to fast-flowing floods across the area, with around 600 people driven from their homes in Ifakara. Doto's house was destroyed in the floods and she and her family were relocated by Plan Tanzania to a local school and provided with blankets, mattresses, mosquito nets, cooking oil and school supplies.
Minna from Tanzania is HIV positive. She joined a Plan-backed savings and loans scheme in 2004. When her group learnt of her HIV status they became a source of support for her and helped pay to send her to a workshop where she learnt about the virus and how to live with it.
On 4th September 2007 Hurricane Felix hit the the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua leaving 300 people dead or missing and 198,000 people affected. The livelihood of 95% of these people was lost during 90 minutes of terror. Plan Nicaragua launched an emergency response program and shipped 320 tons of aid to Puerto Cabeza which received the full force of the hurricane and the brunt of the damages.
To put the spotlight on sanitation the UN General Assembly declared the year 2008 the International Year of Sanitation. The goal is to raise awareness and to accelerate progress towards the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) target to reduce by half the proportion of the 2,6 billion people without access to basic sanitation by 2015.
Work by Plan to help rebuild the lives of children and their communities after Hurricane Mitch hit Hondurason 30th October 1998 causing catastrophic flooding which killed 10,000 people.
27 year old Marcos from Colombia is part of the 'Youth in Harmony' group supported by Plan Colombia to promote 'young peace builders'. Marcos teaches breakdancing to children from his community and uses dance to promote peace and prevent them from following a life of crime and violence.
